Triangels in half circle

This I just started with a side part, then kept connecting long thin triangles until it ended at her ear. Pretty self explanatory. I did start the first one on each side tucked under, but decided it would get too think and bumpy by the end :)

Ribbon Headband

Start with 5 little ponies along the front. Pull the rest of the hair up in a high pony tail. Put ribbon on and tie underneath, keeping the 5 ponies out on top. Split each one over the ribbon and finish with 6 on other side of ribbon to hold it in place. (You do have to lift the ribbon a little to part under it for the second row.) This could also vary with briads, twist unders, etc...

Remember Friendship Bracelettes...?

Wow, it's been a while :) My little cousin had one of these in her hair so of course we had to try it. Just make a little braid and elastic the end. Take 3 (or how many colors you like) really long pieces of string. Find the center of the pieces and tie them all together at the top of the braid so there are 6 pieces hanging down. Start with both strings of one color, make a '4' and pull the knot up over the braid and other strings. Keep going, rotating each color every 5 knots or so. I probably wouldn't do it during the school year, but it's a fun summer thing :)

Celebrity Inspired Hair Do's!

I always use celebrities for my hair style inspiration, and thought why don't I do the same thing for my girls?

Lauren Conrad

Lauren always has the latest and greatest Do's. I have also seen her hair just like this,only with two french braids, and I liked it better. Just divide two small sections at the front of the hair line, and french braid back at an angle. Next Curl all over, and spray for hold.

Carrie Underwood


I pulled the top part of the hair back first to secure the bangs from falling in her face at school, then added the top section into the lower side pony. Last, I curled the hair in ringlets, and added a Flower.

Heidi Klum

Heidi Klum can never go wrong, I swear! Again I pulled the top section back first, because she has short bangs. Then, I added it into a high ponytail. Finally, I curled the ponytail under in sections forming a bun, and securing each section with bobby pins.

Twist Video

Ok, it's really bad... but here it is. My six year old was filming and my husband tried to cut out all her talking late last night, so hopefully it still shows enough. I should have had her stand on the other side, sorry for my arm in the way :) Maybe it will still help someone...?! These are awesome for toddlers with hair too short to french braid.

3 Knots/ Ponies

There really is no name for this... I really like doing the little knots lately so this is just another variation. At an angle start with the front left (her left) square, tie it in a knot and secure it back to the square behind it with an elastic and continue with the others. The little "sparkly flowers" are from Claire's. They are little spirals that twist into the hair and dress it up a bit. My daughters love anything that sparkles :)
P.S. I won't forget the videos, there's usually no one around to record it when I'm doing hair but they will get done..

Triangle of braids (or twists)

I love doing little french braids because I can leave them in for a few days, so I'm always looking for different patterns :) Start with the whole triangle & secure the rest out of the way. Divide at an angle into as many sections as you want and braid- I also did the same thing on her friend's hair only with twists. These are quicker than french braids and have the same effect. If anyone wants a video of them, I can make one- they are super easy and stay in as well as french braids.

Dressing Up Piggies...

Part Hair down the center.

Next, start at the top middle, and section off a rectangle.

Then add the first piece into the next. I did three rectangles, but you can do as many as you would like.

Do this down both sides.

A lot of people have asked how I get my daughter to stay still? Do you see the computer screen? I blast High School Musical Music for her to watch and listen to.

Pull each side back into Piggy Tails, and add bows!

Finally, Curl the remaining hair.

3 Twists to Piggies

This I just kinda' did as I went, but I guess it turned out OK. Start with the middle triangle and twist (cork-screw I think is what people call it) to one side, hold with elastic. Then do the same with the other 2 triangles and have them twist to the opposite sides. Pull them into piggies and make messy buns!

Valentine Hearts

Both of my girls wanted hearts for thier school parties today. For shorter hair, part down the middle first then part back to a point. Secure one side while braiding the other. Make a small part just to start the beginning of the heart. Braid around then elastic the 2 together when finished. She was mad 'cause she thought I was laughing at her smile---For longer hair, do the same thing only bigger. Next time I'd start back a little so it looked more like a heart from the back but it still turned out pretty cute :)

If you're in the mood to french braid here's another idea/pattern:

3 Triangle Pull-throughs

I came across these old pictures so I thought I'd put them on since I haven't been very creative lately :) Start with the middle triangle, stand back and make sure it's centered, then finish with the other 2 on the sides. Pretty basic but still a little different!

Small Diagnol Knot

Start with parting the whole square then part it in half and secure the back half with clip, elastic etc.. Take the front section and tie in a knot just like you would a piece of string. It won't stay in by itself so pull it tight and connect it to the second section with an elastic.

Curling With A Flat Iron

This is the one and ONLY way I do ringlets. My girls have EXTREMELY straight, thick, heavy hair so it never stays in when I curl with a normal curling iron. I'm not exactly sure why- maybe because a flat iron is hotter (usually 300 degrees is good) than a curling iron- but they seriously stay in all day with no hairspray. -And even better, it's way faster !!

P.S. I made a messy bun video also, but it's too many megabytes so as soon as I figure it all out, I'll get it on here :)

just front criss cross

I never know what to call a hair style so please don't laugh when I make up silly names!! Ha Ha Any ways this is cute and easy for when your daughter doesn't want all of her hair pulled up. Just make a small piggy in the front, then one on each side. Take half of the ends of the two sides and make another piggy behind the front middle one. Then split the end of the middle into two, and make two more piggies, one on each side. Again, if your daughter has baby hairs in the front that seem impossible to control, this will hold them back pretty well.

Twist

This is great for hair that is too short to french braid. Part the amount you want to use and hold back the rest with elastics or clips. Start with a little piece up front and twist it tight, then using a rat tail comb part another little section and twist it into the first section. Continue until you've reached the end and finish with an elastic. I use to love doing this on my daughters when they were toddlers because it would stay in really well!

The Punk Rocker Do...

This one is a little wild, but I was experimenting and it
totally fits Brooklyn's sassy personality!

1. Make two sections at the bottom of the neck, and put into piggies!

2. Loop piggies into a messy bun.
3. Part the next section and repeat.

4. Keep repeating as many times as desired!( I went CRAZY!
I think it would be really cute leaving the bottom section down as well.)

5. I only did one loop at the top.

6. You can add colorful bows or clippies. I only added small clippy claws because the hair already made a HUGE statement!

Diagnol Little Ponies

I like to do a diagnol part with 2 ponies but the other day I just kept adding small ones to each side. It could look even better with more or with them french braided, but I was in a hurry! There's 3 on her right side, and 4 on her left- pretty simple but a little different!

Pony Weave

Start with 6 little ponies across the front (or more if you want but it kinda' gets hard to control them all). Cross them over each other making a weave over to the 2 bigger ponies. You could also do the 6 a little bigger with the 2 big ponies being all their hair in pigtails!!

Side Top Pony

This is so dang simple but I think is very cute. My mom use to do my hair like this when I was little and the other day she did it on my niece and it brought back memories. Maybe it's a sentimental thing??! Way easy, just do a stright part along the top and put the pony a little to the side- make sure it's really wet with lots of spray or gel, or you'll get fly-aways on the side that's pulled over :)!
