Simple Wedding 'Do

My daughters were flower girls for a wedding this weekend so I thought I'd post their hair. I wasn't planning on doing this but ended up with about an hour to do both their hair (and mine!). So here's an easy, but dressy style- especially with a big bow or flower to match :)

Part on the side and start on the small side with a french braid. Finish that braid at the ear with and elastic. Pull the rest across and elastic it all together, then finish with a messy bun.-!

Triangle of braids (or twists)

I love doing little french braids because I can leave them in for a few days, so I'm always looking for different patterns :) Start with the whole triangle & secure the rest out of the way. Divide at an angle into as many sections as you want and braid- I also did the same thing on her friend's hair only with twists. These are quicker than french braids and have the same effect. If anyone wants a video of them, I can make one- they are super easy and stay in as well as french braids.

Valentine Hearts

Both of my girls wanted hearts for thier school parties today. For shorter hair, part down the middle first then part back to a point. Secure one side while braiding the other. Make a small part just to start the beginning of the heart. Braid around then elastic the 2 together when finished. She was mad 'cause she thought I was laughing at her smile---For longer hair, do the same thing only bigger. Next time I'd start back a little so it looked more like a heart from the back but it still turned out pretty cute :)

2 Braid Headbands

If anyone stills reads this blog, here's my attempt to get back in the groove of trying new styles. I have others to post, but we were in Mexico last week and there was a beautiful lady with her hair done like this. Needless to say, I was excited to come home and try it! It's pretty self-explanatory :)

One-Sided French Braid

This is just like any french braid but you take from only one side (in this case the right only). Part each section that you're bringing up all the way across then bring it into the braid. When it's the left side's turn just keep braiding normal. (Sorry I don't explain well!) Finish it how you like, I usually loop her's 'cause her hair is so long, then curl the back :) I like that it gives a little different look and the braid is set back a bit.

Small Triangle French Braid

This start out with a triangle up front and pull the rest back. French braid at an angel and keep braiding to the end. At this point you could leave like this or loop the braid back up and curl the ends. Today was a windy day so I pulled the braid back into a half ponytail, then took out the elastic holding the end of the braid. :)

French Braid into Twists...

I apologize for all of my weird names for these hair do's.

I started off with damp hair. I like to run some of this Vitamin E Moulding Creme through her hair first. It not only protects it from breakage, it also keeps all of those pesky fly aways down.

Start off by parting the hair and french braid into two ponies.( I like to do wacky parts, but you can part it how you like.)

Next divide the ponies into three sections, twist them, and tie them off with an elastic.

Do this to each pony...

Then pull the twisted sections back up into the main pony,

Curl the remaining hair,

and add HUGE bows!!!

Square French Braid to Piggies

I'll admit I've been very lazy with hair these last few weeks. We've had swimming lessons, trips, etc. But this is simple and fast. Part a square on the top and while holding the rest of the hair back, french braid at a diagnol and finish the braid to the bottom. Part the rest into piggies and add the braid to that side, then take out the elastic from the braid.

Lots of Briads

Make sure you have a lot of time for this one!! My sister helped me and it still took over an hour. I started with 4 small diagnol french braids up top and then fill the rest of her head with small braids! My daughter loved this because she didn't have to have her hair done for a week and a 1/2! The squares ended up being diamonds in the back because of the diagnol braids up front-
I know there are several ways to end with beads but I kept it simple with just 1, with the hair flipped over top and held with small elastic-.

Diagnol French Braid

Start the french braid on the side instead of center. Elastic at the end and finish with messy bun. The bad thing about this is that it doesn't stay in real well. My little girl had fly aways up front and in back real quick. Be sure to gel and spray heavily!! I love the low side messy bun, so this is just another variation :)

Triple French Braid....

This one is pretty self explanatory.

1. Part the hair in desired places.

2. French braid each section. ( It's easier if you pull other sections back while working on one)

3. Add bows!!! It's as easy as one, two, three!

My favorite part about doing the triple french braid, is the curly hair the next day!
I just add a cute headband! All I did is hot glue a HUGE flower to an existing headband.

Circle French Braid

This, I think, is a little dressy. I like it for church, a wedding, or something nice. Part the hair horizontal just above the ears, then at the side you want to start with, part it a down a little lower- I do this so the end bun isn't too high. Start braiding while trying to keep the rounded look (hold down the bottom half with an elastic until you get most of the way across the top). The parts on the outer edge are bigger pieces than from the center, which are actually little triangles. At the end put in an elastic then make a messy bun to finish it!!

French Braids -Flipped Up Ends

This is just a different way to end basic french braids. At the end, braid 2/3 way down, put in an elastic, then flip it upside down and elastic again and curl the top back over. I do french braids alot so I'm always trying to do them a little different!

Side-Ways French Braids

This I actually first saw one Sat. morning on 'Hanna Montana' about a year ago. (This is starting to get embarrasing where I get my ideas). Her's were very loose and without the loop though. Anyway, just part down the middle and start each side at the crown and pull from front and back then keep braiding and loop at the ends. I usually put a small elastic at the end of the braid, then use a bigger one to loop the ends. It's cute with ribbons or bows at the top of the loop!-

3 Small Angle French Braids

This is great for short hair-. Make a big square on top, then divide it into 3 equal parts and elastic each seperate part. Braid each one and loop at the end!

Cross French Braids

First part the hair down the middle, then across the middle above the ears to make 4 parts. Hold each piece apart with elastic, clip, whatever. I prefer an elastic because it holds tighter. Then just start at an angle up front and when you get to the middle X part keep braiding a little until you reach the next group and continue on. Do the same with the other side with a normal braid in the middle over the last one-!
